1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using curiouslanebrowsng.com ("the site") you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which form part of this agreement. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.
These terms apply to all visitors. If you are using the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.
2. Nature of the service
The site is an independent editorial publication providing written guides, itineraries and reference information about travel in Slovenia. It is provided free of charge and for general information only.
We are not a travel agent, tour operator, booking platform or transport provider. We do not make reservations, hold client money, issue tickets or arrange packages, and nothing on the site constitutes an offer to supply travel services. Any contract you enter into for accommodation, transport, guiding or activities is between you and that provider alone.
Nothing on the site is professional advice — legal, medical, financial, insurance or mountaineering instruction.
3. Accuracy and currency of information
We research on the ground and check prices, opening seasons and timings against operators and public authorities before publication. Even so, travel information ages quickly. Prices change, timetables are revised, attractions close for maintenance, and mountain passes and gorges open and close with the weather.
Figures described as "approximate", "typical", "from" or given as a range are indicative guidance for budgeting, not quotations. Distances and walking times assume reasonable conditions and an average pace. Always confirm critical details — a ticket price, a hut opening date, a pass status, a ferry departure — with the official source before you rely on it. Where possible we link to those sources in each guide.
If you find something out of date, please tell us at [email protected].
4. Outdoor activity and safety disclaimer
This is the most important clause in these terms.
Much of the content on this site describes hiking, via ferrata, gorge walking, caving, whitewater sports, swimming in cold rivers, cycling on mountain roads and driving high alpine passes. These activities carry an inherent risk of serious injury or death. Conditions in the Julian Alps change rapidly; rock falls, storms, snow cover, river levels and trail damage are all outside our knowledge and control.
Route descriptions, grades and timings on this site are a starting point for your own planning. They are not a guarantee that a route is safe, in condition, or within your capability on the day you attempt it. You are solely responsible for:
- Assessing your own fitness, skill and experience against the route.
- Obtaining a current weather and avalanche forecast.
- Carrying appropriate equipment, including a helmet, harness and via ferrata lanyard where cabled sections are involved.
- Holding travel and medical insurance that expressly covers mountain activity and helicopter rescue.
- Deciding to turn back.
If you are not confident, hire a licensed Slovenian mountain guide. The emergency number throughout Slovenia is 112.
5. Editorial independence
We do not accept payment, hosted trips, commission or affiliate revenue in exchange for coverage, placement or a favourable assessment. Where a research cost has been reduced or waived by a provider, that fact is disclosed in the relevant article. Recommendations reflect the honest editorial opinion of the writers at the time of publication and may change.
6. Intellectual property
All text, structure, layout, graphics, code and the curiouslanebrowsng.com name and logo are owned by or licensed to Curious Lane Publishing Ltd. and are protected by copyright and trade mark law.
You may read, print and share the pages for your own personal, non-commercial trip planning. You may quote short extracts of up to 75 words with clear attribution and a working link to the source page. You may not, without our written permission:
- Republish, syndicate or mirror substantial parts of the site.
- Use the content to train, fine-tune or ground a machine learning model or generative AI system.
- Systematically scrape, harvest or index the site beyond normal search-engine crawling.
- Sell, licence or incorporate the content into a commercial product or itinerary service.

7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the site in any way that is unlawful, fraudulent or harmful; not to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of it; not to introduce malware; and not to place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure through automated requests. We may restrict access where we reasonably believe these terms have been breached.
8. Submissions and correspondence
If you send us a correction, tip, question or photograph, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use that material for editorial purposes, including publishing a corrected fact. We will not publish your name or contact details without your agreement. Do not send confidential or third-party material you do not have the right to share. We may choose not to reply to unsolicited commercial pitches.
9. Third-party links and services
We link to tourist boards, park authorities, transport operators and mapping services for your convenience. We do not control those sites, do not endorse their content, and accept no responsibility for their availability, accuracy, or the terms on which they operate. The site also embeds third-party resources such as web fonts, images and an embedded map; loading them discloses your IP address to those providers.
10. Availability and changes
The site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access and may suspend, withdraw or amend any part of it without notice. We may revise these terms at any time; the version published here on the date you use the site is the version that applies.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Curious Lane Publishing Ltd. is not liable for any loss or damage — whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise — arising from or in connection with use of, or inability to use, the site or reliance on its content. This includes loss of profit, loss of a holiday or booking, travel disruption, wasted expenditure, or any indirect or consequential loss.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to £100.
If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
12. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that consumers resident in Scotland, Northern Ireland or an EEA member state may also bring proceedings in their country of residence.
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remainder continues in full force.
